The Detroit Tigers begin single ticket sales on Thursday, with Opening Day scheduled April 1 against the Cleveland Indians at 1:10 p.m.
The announcement on Friday comes as the ball club outlines Covid safety measures for the season, including a requirement that fans complete a wellness survey no more than 24 hours before attending a game.
It also comes on the same day the state announced that outdoor sporting venues can fill up to 20 percent of capacity, which comes to about 8,200 fans at Comerica Park. The state had previously put a cap of 1,000 for Opening Day.
"The Tigers have coordinated with public health and medical experts, government officials and Major League Baseball to develop a comprehensive plan that will allow fans to safely and confidently return," the team says on its website.
Besides a health survey, these safety measures are listed:
► Mandatory face masks except when eating or drinking at a fan’s seat. Neck gaiters, bandanas and masks with valves are not permitted.
► Bags, purses and clutches are prohibited, except for with medical or diaper bags.
► Cashless payments. "Reverse ATMs" will be installed at Comerica Park ahead of the home opener and contactless parking can be reserved through The District Detroit mobile app.
► Seating pods with at least six feet of physical distance between other groups.
► Select concession locations will be open, and food and drinks can be ordered via phone for express pick-up.
► Physical distance signage and concourse decals are installed near high-traffic areas.
► Touchless hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the concourse.
► Disinfecting the venue to CDC standards, including the use of UV-light technology.
Increased single-game tickets will be available when the state eases restrictions, the team said.
