Ever since 2021 when Eminem opened "Mom's Spaghetti" restaurant on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit, the reviews have been mixed.
Michael Lucido, a former Deadline Detroit photojournalist, tried it when it first opened. His parents are of Sicilian descent; he grew up on the real deal when it comes to pasta and homemade tomato sauce.
He said the garlic bread was really good, the sphagetti and meatballs were decent, though the sauce was just Ok, not very impressive. Rashad Mooreman of North Carolina, a national food critic on social media who goes by "Mr. Chimetime," tried it earlier this year, and was much harsher: "This is by far thee worst spaghetti that I have ever had in my entire life." He gave it a 0-10.
Well, the heartening thing is -- whether or not you're a fan of the food --the shop is offering some pretty cool merchandise including a t-shirt, hoodie and hat with the name and Detroit address.
In other words, you may not care for the spaghetti, but you may love the hoodie.
