Detroit Lions fans felt a bit of gut punch on Sunday when refs ejected star safety Brian Branch for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay receiver Bo Melton in the second quarter. The league’s officiating command center in New York made the decision.
That decision didn't sit well with people beyond Detroit Lions fans, even though in the end their team dominated and won 24-14.
Tom Brady, former NFL star quarterback who has become a Fox Sports commentator, thought it wasn't right, according to the sports website, Heavy.com
“I don’t love that call at all,” said Brady, who was part of the announcing crew during Sunday’s game. “I mean, obviously, it’s a penalty, but to me, that has to be serious intent in a game like this.”
Lions great Herman Moore also weighed in, writing on X:
The @nfl needs to look into the ejection of Brian Branch. Something’s not right with that call. This is the equivalent of Goff getting ejected. #Lions
