Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, 28, won the American League Cy Young Award, MLB.com reported Wednesday night.
The Baseball Writers Association of America voted unanimously for the star left hander. Atlanta Braves veteran Chris Sale won the National League Cy Young Award.
Skubal had an outstanding season, chalking up 18 wins and 228 strikeouts. He had an ERA of 2.39.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Detroit Tigers Denny McLain won the award twice (1968 and 1969). Willie Hernandez (1984), Justin Verlander (2011) and Max Scherzer (2013). .
