David Eric Yellen, 59, of Royal Oak, who worked worked as a photographer and videographer at multiple gymnastics academies and events, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to seven years in prison for distributing child pornography.
Additionally, U.S. District Court Judge Sean F. Cox sentenced him to 10 years supervised release after he leaves prison.
Authorities said the FBI first discovered his photographs on the Internet where they were being distributed using peer-to-peer file-sharing software.
When agents searched his home they found that Yellen possessed more than two million files of child pornography on his electronic devices, and that he had taken over 50,000 photographs of the bare feet of the children who attended the gyms and gymnastic events where he worked.
“Yellen distributed and possessed an excessive amount of child pornography. Yesterday, he answered for his illegal acts and his egregious breach of trust,” said U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison in a statement.
