Detroit Police shot and wounded a Detroit woman last week after she fired a handgun multiple times at a tow truck driver who had repossesed her car on the city's east side. The tow truck driver was not hit by gunfire.

Shaquanda Danielle Tankersley, 38, of Detroit, who was hit in the torso by police gunfire was treated at the hospital and released, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.

She now faces charges of assault with intent to murder and felony firearm. She was arraigned on Monday in Detroit 36th District Court and given a $50,000 cash/surety bond. A preliminary examination is set for July 1 at 8:45 a.m.

The incident took places last Thursday around 3 p.m. in the 10800 block of Nottingham Road.

Authorities allege that Tankersley fired a handgun multiple times at the tow truck driver after he repossessed her car from her home in the 10500 block of Somerset Avenue.

Detroit police officers on patrol around Nottingham Road near Grayton Street saw Tankersley running down the street chasing the driver and shooting at him.

Police returned fire, striking her in the torso, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.
