Teens Fleeing Police Crash into Brayz Hamburgers in Hazel Park. Owner Questions Police Chase.

Four teens in a stolen car tried to elude Warren police during a chase but ended up crashing into a vehicle and then into the 24-hour Brayz Hamburgers at 9 Mile and Dequindre in Hazel Park around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The slider joint was forced to temporarily close for repairs, and the teens were arrested.

There were no reported injuries inside Brayz.

"I don't know why they would chase in the rain. You know NASCAR drivers—everybody knows that if you have a car, you cannot chase in the rain," Brayz owner Paul Mirdita told WXYZ. "That made absolutely no sense to me. So, I don't know. I don't like it."

Warren police said the teens stole a black Kia Optima from the Lafayette Place mobile home park, about a mile from the restaurant.

Police attempted to pull over the car with the four teens inside, but they kept driving. They ran a red light at 9 Mile and Dequindre before crashing into a white Lincoln sedan and then into Brayz.

The four teens tried to flee on foot but were quickly arrested, police said, adding that a gun was found in the car. The driver of the Lincoln suffered minor injuries, police said.

On Wednesday, Brayz was boarding up the side where the car crashed. At 10 a.m. Wednesday, no one answered a phone call from Deadline Detroit to confirm whether the restaurant had reopened.

Police said they also arrested a fifth person who had stolen another Kia from the area.

It was the second police chase in two days by Warren officers. On Tuesday, police chased a domestic abuse suspect into Detroit and said they got into a shootout with the man, who was fatally shot near Coleman A. Young International Airport on the city's east side.
